Starting in Spring 2018, the International Internship program provides a year-long internship, for young-adult orphans ages 18-35 in a country outside of their own. Local churches “adopt” the intern and non-profit organizations, in the US, UK, Kenya & Germany, offer 8-12 month internships for these young adults providing them with specific job skills in addition to providing business experience, volunteer opportunities, life coaching, counseling, CPR, language school, money management/banking skills and connection to a local church community. The internship program covers the cost of flight, visas, health insurance, basic toiletries, a small professional wardrobe, a host family that covers housing & basic meals. If there are extenuating circumstances with health or mental wellness, these are also addressed and supported.
Established in 2011, the local Internship program currently exists in four locations throughout Kenya. Kenyan young-adult orphans ages 18-35 are connected with a local church and Internship program, typically as administrative assistants or personal assistants to pastors, pastor’s wives or head-Masters. Local internships often work in tandem with near by non-profit organizations and often with globally recognized non-profit organizations such as Red Cross, Samaritans Purse, UNESCO, and others. Local internships are 3-6 months and provide young-adults with specific job skills, business experience, counseling, social skills, volunteer opportunities, and a wide-range of life support, determined on a case by case situation.
Fall 2018 launched the Virtual Internship program providing online internships connecting our young-adult orphan population with training and networking with global experiences via the world-wide web. These internships include training & volunteer experiences to gain skills in network development, web design, internet security and infrastructure as well as desktop publishing.
